Shoulder Cue

When you’re upside down, your shoulders become your hips. Hips are stable, so the shoulders have to become incredibly rock solid. Insert your scapula in the sockets firmly. It’s as if you’ve got the shoulder sockets lined with Loctite and the blades can’t move. Try this in Downward Facing Dog Pose First. Handstand ain’t going anywhere. and you need to get this action down before you’re ready for all of that.

When you are upside down, your arms are your legs. Stabilize those guys too, wrapping muscles around bones without locking your elbow joints.

When upside down, your hands are now your feet. Can you imagine what would happen if we put the majority of our body weight on our heels as we are prone to do with our wrists? It would be a shit-show. Press firmly into each fingertip bed and the webbing between the thumb and index finger. Try relaxing everything for a sec, and then move right back into the engagement.
